So has anyone ever loved something as a child and then discovered it as an adult? Well that happened to me. There was this song. Man I loved it as a kid! It was all about walking in a dream, coming to a river and having a major dance party (from what I could recall). Turns out that song was The River of Dreams by Billy Joel! Yeah apparently I've always had great taste. And I still love it!
So my life. What's been happening lately? I'm still living in the same city as before, despite my many attempts to secure employment elsewhere. Turns out I'm meant to be here! I think I talked a little about that in this other post. Anyway, so I'm here and I finally got a job! Hurray! I'm the newest member of the Custodial Crew. Yeah, not super glamorous, but I really can't complain because I like my co-workers, my boss, and this campus. And everybody has to have a custodian job at least once in their life, right?* So I work afternoons, and I'm still looking for opportunities to work in the morning because I need MONEY.
I have an important announcement: I will be a Service Leader with my college's Service & Learning Center next year! I'll be in leading (with a partner) the story hour at the local library! Man volunteerism is changing my life. But this gave me the opportunity to attend a service leader retreat and a statewide leadership conference this last month, both of which taught me a lot. Everyone is a leader in some respect-- as a parent, teacher, mentor, friend, in the workplace, etc., so everyone ought to develop their leadership skills.
Well that's what I've been up to lately. Looking forward to a Dreamy, Clean Summer of Leadership!
Now watch this video I found.
