The Relationship Post

I'm typing this as I eat a Kit Kat Bar bought by my mother (thanks! It tastes even better because love is the secret ingredient). As you can tell from the title, this post is about relationships. "Ugh, why bother reading?" Naw it's not one of those lame posts about the end of a relationship, the start of a relationship, or even an ODA of "I love being in this relationship!" The truth is, I'm not even considered to be "in a relationship." Although, I'm about to change your mind about that. I'm in tons of relationships at this very moment!

Why does everyone place so much importance on romantic relationships? When I hear the word "relationship" I automatically think of a boyfriend and/or girlfriend, fiancés, spouses, or any other number of "beloved" people. The true definition of "relationship" in this sense is a "connection between persons". At this present moment the  connections between me and different people are innumerable! I have parents, siblings, friends, best friends, acquaintances, mentors, associates, and even a nemesis or two... General good advice says to create relationships with people of each gender and every age, at every age. It could be said that the work of our life is to create positive relationships. My status may not be "in a relationship" and it's certainly not "complicated." I am in the process of maintaining thousands of relationships, plain and simple. Although a lot of people my age are pursuing romantic relationships, that is not what I'm looking for right now. I am satisfied with making all other sorts of relationships and letting the romance happen at the right time and under the right circumstances. That's it. I thought you would like to know that.

Quick Life Update:

  • I gave up Facebook for Lent, so don't think I'm dead because I'll be back on Easter.
  • Also, I recently had four zits that created the illusion of a diagonal line across my mouth like this:

I came to this conclusion: If I am to have zits, I would rather have them make a picture.

Looking for a Place to Live?

Hello again! How is your 2010 going? Mine has been fantastic! I love the dichotomy of time:
I've only been back in school for one month, but so much has changed in my life. I have new friends, reconnected with old friends and just live my life generally different from when I was at home. It seems like December 31st was forever ago! YET every week seems to fly by! I volunteer with the Service and Learning Center at my school each Tuesday, and each time I'm amazed that a whole week has passed. Let me tell you about that.

I go to the public library each week with some other students and we read a couple stories to children and then do an activity with them. I'm not in charge, so I don't have to do any of the hard work! It's an ideal situation. Being around younger kids (about 2 years old to 7 years old) does a bit to fill the lack I have from not being around my sweet nephew (almost 2 years old). Obviously, no one could replace him in my life, but this helps a mite. Also, my nephew and my sister left me a voice message the other night and it was the best thing I've ever heard. I listen to it every day.

So that's my life! This is where I live! I hope you enjoyed this blog-entry-of-less-scholarly-topics. I'm mulling about an idea for an entry that will be pretty intense and will make you think, so watch out for that one. Probably next time I'll just tell you about my classes. Also, that February photo is not mine.
